Sacred Cloud

He LOVES
being scratched
HeÕs a real personable
horse
but not pushy

Clearing brush

Sunday morning
while youÕre having
coffee
weÕre working

Happiest on her horse

Still practicing with
Quinn for the show
Cloud watches, hoping for
his turn

Quinn enjoys the jumps

Last ride out before dark

Oh my
ItÕs a long story
IÕll try to be brief
Our friend Cathy
saw this horse

standing in a very small
backyard pen
He needed help
Cathy doesnÕt waste time
She takes action
He is now at our house
for a while
But first we had to do a
few things
THIS

has to go!!!

Before

Had to use a little
hacksaw action

After
MUCH BETTER

This hind hoof cleans up
nice

Very gentle
comes with matching dog
One more time

Before and After
Good job Wade!

Big ones
Lately itÕs
been big around here
Last night my
camera decided to have
a bad day
so I apologize
these pics
should be better
today itÕs
fine
go figure

The Harvest
Moon

ItÕs bright as
the sun!
Looks small
compared to my horse
AinÕt he
BEAUTIFUL?
ThatÕs the
Mighty Quinn!
Oh how I
love him
We are riding
daily
Horse Show
countdown - 10 days!!!
Please be a
good boy!
ItÕs a show
NOT a
racetrack
We will be trying
not to fall off
jumping for our first time in public
_______________________
This morning
we had a very lame (not our doing)
horse come to the shop
As Wade pulled
the shoe off
A large amount
of pus
SHOT out
The culprit?

One big nasty
abscess
Ouch
Now you know
what one looks like

Blue

Even though sheÕs moved on
to a big horse
Mercy still rides Blue

She still loads him up
every chance she gets

He fits!
Note - the first divider
has been modified for ponies
I like this a lot

Blue says ÒGet me outta
hereÓ
Now if he was in the
first stall he couldnÕt do this

Of course we do feet
Then thereÕs
Jack
My
handsomest devil donkey

I let him out with his girls

The girls say ÒWe didnÕt
need to see thatÓ

This is what a happy
donkey looks like

Gotta roll here too
This time the girls donÕt
look

All the way over
Watch out ladies!

I told you, MOVE

Casper pitched such a fit
I let him out too

When itÕs too quiet
I go see what theyÕre
doing
Jack, Molly, Cadencia,
Spooky and Casper
Doing bad things to my
tree nothing

Running like idiots
Much better

Wendall

Yet another horse
That I love
I love any creature
That gives people a hard
time
Wendall is a Percheron
HeÕs kinda big
He came as a referral from
another farrier friend
who really didnÕt want to
do him anymore
After Wendall gave him a
back foot
It sent him flying 20 feet
When Wendall is done
HeÕs done
At least heÕs very clear
about it
Since our farrier friend
knows we like
getting beat up
a challenge
Here we are
It took 2 sessions before we
figured this horse out
Wendall requires a certain
amount of loving
A LOT of loving
Otherwise you canÕt have
his feet
What Wendall told me
is that you donÕt get a
pedicure
without a massage
Like DUH people

I keep scratchin

And Wade works FAST
Note the normal sized
horse to the left
Whatever it takes

This link is a MUST SEE

It just came into my inbox

Thin Shoes

Old Friends
This horse paces
A LOT

Fresh off the horse
After 8 weeks
Talk about toe draggin!

Time for a reset
Ya think?
Now hereÕs a treat!
Thanks to the awesome
power of the Internet
WeÕre able to reconnect
with old friends
This is Susan and Mikey

We were some horse crazy

Butt
Scratching
and
Amish Stocks

Awwwwww
He likes the butt
scratchins
HereÕs one of my favorite
horses

This is Reb
HeÕs an older stud
who knows every trick in
the book
Sometimes he likes to have
a little fun
At the farrierÕs expense
But mostly heÕs a good man
and we enjoy doing him
These are the infamous

STOCKS
They restrain a horse
and let us get our work
done
without a trip to the
ER
safely
We like to think we have
enough
horsemanship skills to not
have to use these
but there are times

We put the occasional
child in there too
Then we call these the
ÒNaughty StocksÓ
Cause we watch too much
Supernanny

Jump!
IÕm trying to get QuinnÕs
attention
He considers flatwork
BORING
but will grudgingly
get with the program
So today I started mixing
it up
I didnÕt want to start
this too young
or
when I didnÕt have full
control
I had my doubts about his
ability
to EVER
watch where his feet are going
But he surprised me
He actually cleared this
little jump
3 times in a row
He seems to get it
and most importantly
He seems to
LIKE IT

At this point itÕs just
about getting him over it cleanly
It doesnÕt have to be
pretty

Success!

Rescue Me
Now weÕre practicing the
Rescue Race
The idea is to run down
the arena
at high speed
and
pick up the man who needs
rescuing
This is so
easy a 3 yr old can do it

This man needs
to be rescued

Here comes the
cowgirl

Agility in
action
After you
turn 30, this is harder to do

Rescued!!!

Oh no!
Mommy needs a
rescue too!

Mommy gets
saved!!

Now THAT is a cowgirl

Transforming
the Shop
As many of you
know
I'm working to
clean up the shop
We're going
turn it into a
Western Thrift
Store
After a year
of thought
About what
would work
This is what I
came up with
However, first
Wade's sister needed
to move her
stuff out
She'd stayed
there this spring
After 2 months
of asking
I finally
moved it myself
Here's a
couple
Before and
After shots
The Front Room

The Main Room

Slowly but
surely
It's going to get
done!

The Farrier's
Truck
and
Your Halloween Sneak Peek!

This hangs from the mirror
Boots, shoe and nippers
Big thanks to my buddy
Will who found those nippers at a yard sale.
He said they called my
name

Everyone has an EZ Boot on
their dash, right?

With that bumper
You bet I'm Fearless

This is my super awesome
backseat driver
Lately all she says is
"Mommy, go FASTER"
That's my kinda co-pilot
___________________
Now when I saw these
costumes
I knew these were IT
Perfect
I drove straight to the
shop to show Wade
I jumped out and said
"Hey honey, I got OUR costumes today too"
The look on his face was
priceless
We didn't discuss US
wearing costumes
He had no idea this was
required
I was hiding them, but he
could see a little bit
He looks up from shoeing a
horse and
says "How come one's white and one's black?"
I got a big smile
and showed him

He was so thrilled
I'm still laughing
I know you guys can't
wait to see how we look

We're like
Motel 6
We'll
leave the light on
This guy has been here 5
nights in a row

This is why
We are completely
fascinated by his ability
to eat bugs
He knocks out an average
of a bug a minute

It's like our own little
Animal Planet show
-----------------------------
Retiring

The rule is
When sock is showing
It's time for new boots
These lasted almost 2
years
I got my money's worth
As I bid them goodbye
I'm wondering
If you can tell so much
about a person
by what they wear on their
feet
What do these say about
me?
Besides
that I have really big feet
Replaced By

More heel, pointier toes
Slicker soles
Very practical
Functional
A touch more girlie
Hopefully snake proof
That's what matters

Rare Talent
For all kinds of trouble
I went out yesterday to hook
up the little trailer
to deliver it to it's new owner
Everything went wrong at
once
First the trailer had a
low tire
Then the jack on it
decided to quit working
mid hookup of course
Then I spot THIS on the
front truck tire

How does this
happen?
Rare talent folks
So I do what any woman
does
I call my man
And say
"Honey, I didn't do
anything, I swear"
Actually what I said was
"You're gonna s**t a
twinkie when you see this tire"
And he did
But he fixed things for me
Like a good man does

This morning found me at
Check out my co-pilot
Grace

I almost hit the fence
with the cart
when Grace to snuggled up
to my face
I love this dog!
She's a BIG GIRL

Everyone has their spot

Look at that face!!

Zack's on the ball
All's going well
Until....
I'm feeding the cats in
the tack room
When I hear a dogfight
start
It sounds like someone's
being killed
I race out and wade into
the middle of it
Several dogs have one on
the ground up next to the golf cart
Pinned
That little dog pictured
above, Zack?
He's the culprit
He's tearing up Tanner,
the adolescent pup
I imagine Tanner tried to
take his ball

Tanner
Can be very annoying
He's like that kid in
school that won't quit
Since I was around, Zack
decided it was time
to put him in his place
Everyone else wanted a
piece too
See this?

This is my size 10
Ronald McDonald looking
foot
Guess where it goes?
I booted Zack off
With the top of my foot
Not hard, just enough
Tanner ran away and hid
Very upset

Zack's full of himself now
I eventually tracked
Tanner down
He was hiding under the
porch
I coaxed him out
So I could make sure he
was ok
He was fine
Very contrite

Still a touch of animosity
there

Rule #1
Kiss up to the big dogs

Rain =
Rarely seen Critters

This guy loves to eat the
bugs
that come to our porch
light
It's like the world's best
salad bar!
These toads
are seriously poisonous to dogs
Makes your dog
act like it ate LSD
No lie
In other
adventures....

Waiting on the
bus

There it is!

How bout a
ride?

How was your
day?

Heading for
home

A River Runs
Through It
This is so cool
We got rain today!!
This is a big deal in
the desert ya know
So I wanted to show you
guys the wet horses
I stepped out at the end
of the storm
Armed and dangerous with
my camera
Just in time to capture
what I consider to be a
really cool feature to this property
look to the left in the
picture
Do you see it?

Flash flood!!

Mesquite kicks things off
must be the sound of
rushing water

Oh boy!

Instant river!
This is why I have panels
over the wash part
instead of real fence
fence washes away

The youngsters consider
this a gift from the Gods

This one has to roll in it

This one too

Let's all get in!
One hour
later

It's fading
See Old Smokey
doing her job?
She's mean
I tell ya

And you better
not forget it

You think they
bought it?
That was a
pretty bad storm
Know how I
know?

Because this
is a piece of my roof
Anyone care to
guess
what I'll be doing tomorrow?

Run for the
Border
We wandered
into Nogales Mexico this past weekend
For drugs
Not that
kind
It is true
that you can get what you need
for less than half the cost in America
Wade uses
asthma inhalers
In the US they
cost $35
In Nogales,
they cost $7

We buy a
year's worth at a time
You can buy
those "other" drugs too
After I
wandered off for a minute,
Wade caught up to me
and said
"Some guy
just dragged me by the arm
into a back
room and asked if I needed any pills"
Wade said
NO
Then he says
I'm not allowed to wander off like that again

Not
happy to be here
He kept saying
"Ok,
we're done"
Me

I LOVE
Mexico
Dig the hat?
$20 bucks dude
Even the
border guard thought it was fetching

Then there's

Elvis Lives!
I know cause
I kissed him today

This is Elvis
Isn't he ADORABLE???

Elvis was in a pen close
to the road
So we stopped to say hi,
with permission

It was feeding time!!!
Mercy got to feed Elvis five
bottles!!!

I could not resist a kiss
(but no tongue, thank you
very much)
Elvis is 2 months old. His
mama developed mastitis,
so he is a bottle baby
Very friendly
A year from now
I am going to own a camel
You heard it here first
