He’s a real personable horse

but not pushy

Clearing brush

Sunday morning

while you’re having coffee

we’re working

Happiest on her horse

Still practicing with Quinn for the show

Cloud watches, hoping for his turn

Quinn enjoys the jumps

Last ride out before dark

Oh my

It’s a long story

I’ll try to be brief

Our friend Cathy

saw this horse

standing in a very small

backyard pen

He needed help

Cathy doesn’t waste time

She takes action

He is now at our house

for a while

But first we had to do a few things

Big ones

Lately it’s been big around here

Last night my camera decided to have

a bad day

horse come to the shop

As Wade pulled the shoe off

A large amount of pus

The culprit?

One big nasty abscess

Blue

Even though she’s moved on to a big horse

Mercy still rides Blue

She still loads him up every chance she gets

He fits!

Note - the first divider has been modified for ponies

I like this a lot

Blue says “Get me outta here”

Now if he was in the first stall he couldn’t do this

Of course we do feet

Then there’s

My handsomest devil donkey

I let him out with his girls

The girls say “We didn’t need to see that”

This is what a happy donkey looks like

Gotta roll here too

This time the girls don’t look

All the way over

Watch out ladies!

I told you, MOVE

Casper pitched such a fit

I let him out too

When it’s too quiet

I go see what they’re doing

Jack, Molly, Cadencia, Spooky and Casper

Doing bad things to my tree nothing

Running like idiots

Wendall

Yet another horse

That I love

I love any creature

That gives people a hard time

Wendall is a Percheron

He’s kinda big

He came as a referral from another farrier friend

who really didn’t want to do him anymore

After Wendall gave him a back foot

It sent him flying 20 feet

When Wendall is done

He’s done

At least he’s very clear about it

Since our farrier friend knows we like

getting beat up

a challenge

Here we are

It took 2 sessions before we figured this horse out

Wendall requires a certain amount of loving

A LOT of loving

Otherwise you can’t have his feet

What Wendall told me

is that you don’t get a pedicure

without a massage

Like DUH people

I keep scratchin

And Wade works FAST

Note the normal sized horse to the left

Whatever it takes

Butt Scratching

Amish Stocks

He likes the butt scratchins

Here’s one of my favorite horses

This is Reb

He’s an older stud

who knows every trick in the book

Sometimes he likes to have a little fun

At the farrier’s expense

But mostly he’s a good man

and we enjoy doing him

These are the infamous

STOCKS

They restrain a horse

and let us get our work done

without a trip to the ER

safely

We like to think we have enough

horsemanship skills to not

have to use these

but there are times

We put the occasional child in there too

Then we call these the “Naughty Stocks”

Cause we watch too much Supernanny

Jump!

I’m trying to get Quinn’s attention

He considers flatwork

BORING

but will grudgingly

get with the program

So today I started mixing it up

I didn’t want to start this too young

or

when I didn’t have full control

I had my doubts about his ability

to EVER

watch where his feet are going

But he surprised me

He actually cleared this

little jump

3 times in a row

He seems to get it
